Deer Hunting Game

Deer Hunting is a game that works great with two or more players. It’s always fun to find new games to play at a kid’s birthday party, family reunions, and other youth activities. This games will help run out energy and has always proven to be a crowd-pleaser.
Things You’ll Need:
2 Blindfolds
Long Table (5 ft. or longer works best)
2 or more players

Step 1
The first thing you need to play Deer Hunting, is players. If you have more than two players, choose two to begin. Decide who is the DEER and who is the HUNTER.
Step 2
Take the DEER to one end of the table and take the HUNTER to the other end. Blindfold them both.
Step 3
The rest of the players should stand on either side of the table but back away from the table (they need to leave enough room so the DEER and HUNTER can both safely round the table).
Step 4
The object of the game is for the HUNTER to catch the DEER. Both HUNTER and DEER must be ingthe table at all times. The other players stand back and call out directions or cheer on either the HUNTER or the DEER.
Step 5
Once the HUNTER catches the DEER, you can play one of two ways.
1. The DEER becomes the HUNTER and a new player becomes the DEER. The original HUNTER would take a place with the rest of the players to call out directions.
2. The DEER and HUNTER join the rest of the players and two new players are chosen as the DEER and HUNTER.
Step 6
VARIATIONS:
1. If your table is long and you have a lot of players, you can have two DEER and one HUNTER. All three players need to be blindfolded.
2. Start the game with two HUNTERS and two DEER. Put your HUNTERS on the ends of your table(s) and your DEER on the sides of the table(s). For this to work, you should have a long table or even two long tables end to end. You can leave space between the table ends so the players can cut through. This gets fun when the HUNTERS are no longer separated by the DEER. The HUNTERS may catch another HUNTER and be disappointed to find their catch doesn’t count. Also with two HUNTERS and two DEER, you must decide if the HUNTER and DEER both sit out when a DEER is captured or if only the DEER is out of play leaving two HUNTERS and one DEER.
Step 7
So if you are looking for kid’s birthday party ideas, this is an energetic game that will have the kids laughing and having fun.

Tips & Warnings

It is more fun if the players around the table are not assigned HUNTER or DEER to call out directions for. The HUNTER and DEER will often go in the same direction or get confused as to which way they should go.
Personally, I am not a hunter. If I had named the game, I would have called it something else. If hunting offends you, think of another name you could use like “COPS and ROBBERS” or “Hawk and MOUSE”. You get the idea.
It is important to tell the players this is for fun and they should not purposefully try to hurt the DEER or HUNTER by causing them to collide.
