Easy Fruit Dumplings Recipe

Your kids will love making these almost as much as eating them. They take about 10 minutes to prepare and about 15 to 20 minutes to bake.

INGREDIENTS

Pillsbury Crescent rolls (8 pack)
1/4 cup of Butter (melted)
Fruit Pie Filling (any fruit will do)
Pam Non Stick Spray
Cinnamon (optional)
Sugar (optional)
Baking sheet
Vanilla Ice-Cream or Milk (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Spray your baking sheet with Pam non-stick spray.

2. Take two of your crescent rolls and lay them flat making a rectangle. Where they have been perforated, press them together so you have one rectangle.

3.If desired, sprinkle some cinnamon or some sugar on the crust. This will give it more flavor but is not necessary.

4. Place a some of the pie filling in the center of the rectangle (about three spoons should be enough).

5. Pull the sides together and pinch them to seal the crust (much like a pie crust).

6. Place your  fruit dumpling on the baking sheet. Using a bakers brush, lightly brush the outside of your dumpling with your melted butter.

7. Turn your oven on 425 degrees and place your dumplings in the oven.

8. Check your dumplings at 15 minutes. If they are almost done, turn your oven off but leave your dumplings in for another 5 minutes. This saves energy when you start them as the oven is first cut on and to leave them in after you cut the oven off. Just make sure they are almost done before cutting the oven off.

9. Let cool for about a minute and serve warm with vanilla ice-cream or with a little milk poured over it. They also taste great by themselves.

* Makes four servings.

* Let your children help with as many steps as they are able to help with.

* Sprinkle some cinnamon over the ice-cream for garnish.

* Fresh fruit can be used to make these. To use fresh fruit, place the cut freash fruit in the center of the crust (as you did with the filling). You will need to add 1/8 tablespoon of butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar to the fresh fruit before pinching the sides together.
