Red Light – Game

Everyone remembers playing “Red Light”.  A fun and active game that is perfect for the energy children have. This game is best with three or more children. You need one child to be the “stoplight” and at least two children to race to the “stoplight”.

The game begins with one child (the “stoplight”) standing about 15 to 30 feet away from the rest of the children. The children (not being the ’stoplight”) line up so they are an even distance from the “stoplight”.

The “stoplight” faces away from the line of children and says “1, 2, 3, green light”. The children standing in line are allowed to move at any pace they chose and in any way they chose. The “stoplight” remains facing away from the other children.

At random times the “stoplight” calls out “red light!” and turns around to face the group. If any of the kids are caught moving after this has occurred, they are out.

Continue playing, remembering to have the “stoplight” turns back around and says “1, 2, 3, green light”.

The “stoplight” wins if all the children are out before they are able to touch him/her.

The first player to touch the “stoplight” wins the game and earns the right to be “stoplight” for the next game.
